In a major success, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested nine terror associates who had been receiving Pakistani terrorists after their infiltration from International Border in Samba-Kathua sector of Jammu division and then guiding them to the upper reaches of Udhampur, Kathua and Doda districts. The kingpin of the module has been identified as Mohd. Lateef alias Haji Lateef, a resident of Ambe Naal, Kathua, who was helping the terrorists in taking shelter in dhoks after their infiltration from Pakistan. A police spokesman said that a total of 50 persons living in dhoks (summer kutcha huts) in the mountains for grazing their livestock have been investigated by police for providing shelter to the terrorists. The arrested members of the module have confirmed that three terrorists killed in an encounter with security forces in Gandoh area of Doda district on June 26 were assisted by them in hiding and travelling without being detected till they reached the upper areas.

The Indian Air Force is hosting its largest ever multilateral air combat exercise Ex Tarang Shakti at Sulur airbase of Indian Air Force in Tamil Nadu. It is   aimed at showcasing its military capabilities and strengthening international cooperation. This strategically significant exercise drawn participation from around 11 countries featuring a diverse array of aircrafts including Rafales, F-18, and Eurofighter.   Ex Tarang Shakti exercise is designed to enhance India’s defence ties with the participating nations while demonstrating its Indigenous defence capabilities.   The first phase of this exercise started on 6th of this month and scheduled to conclude tomorrow. The second leg of the exercise will take place from 29th August to 14th September at Air Force Station Jodhpur.   International Defence Aviation Exposition 2024 – IDAX 2024 is also being organised at Air Force Station at Sulur in Tamil Nadu. Several renowned Indian and Foreign companies are participating in the exposition displaying variety of equipment and defence system. Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, DRDO Chief Samir V Kamat and several other dignitaries visited the International Defence Aviation Exposition 2024. On this occasion, DRDO Chairman Samir V Kamat said, DRDO is fully prepared to meet the requirements of armed forces.

In response to nation-wide strike call by the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) to protest the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in  Kolkata, resident doctors of various public hospitals in Maharashtra had  gone on strike (except for emergency duty).  Senior medical teachers, lecturers and bonded candidates in these medical colleges are managing the hospitals. Leaves of various staff have been cancelled.   Maharashtra State Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) yesterday informed that the decision to join the strike has been taken in order to express solidarity with the residents of RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata.   In Jharkhand, junior doctors of Rajendra Institute  of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi went on indefinite strike.  The demands of agitating doctors include CBI probe into the case and safety of doctors at workplace.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the rape and murder case of a on duty lady doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata will be handed over to CBI if the police can not come to conclusion by next Sunday.   Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today met the family of the deceased doctor at their residence at Sodepur in Kolkata. Mamata has told the media that the parents of the doctor doubt that more persons may be involved in the crime. The Chief Minister has informed that if the  police can not come to a conclusion in this case by next Sunday then the state government will hand over the case to CBI. Meanwhile  The principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Mr Sandip Ghosh has resigned from service today.

BJP today accused Congress for destabilizing the Indian stock market. Briefing media in New Delhi today, Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad alleged that they want to crash the entire stock market, and stop the capital investment of small investors. He said, they want to stop the FII and FDI investment from the foreign countries. Raising questions over the Hindenburg, Mr. Prasad alleged that George Soros has investment in the Hindenburg who regularly runs propaganda against India.

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has successfully reconstructed the Indrani Bridge in Sikkim, reconnecting the northern region of the state to the rest of India after it was severely damaged by flash floods in October 2023. The project, led by the 764 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) under Project Swastik, involved the construction of a 300-foot Bailey Suspension Bridge, following a joint survey with Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE).   This achievement highlights the resilience, engineering skill, and collaboration required to restore critical infrastructure, marking a significant step in Sikkim’s recovery and future development.   The bridge will play a vital role in the state’s economic and social progress.

Paris Olympics 2024 comes to an end with the glittering closing ceremony at Stade de France. India, with a total of 6 medals, including one silver and five bronze medals, finished at the 71st spot in the overall medal tally, which is significantly lower than their 48th overall finish at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where they won a total of 7 medals, including one gold, two silver, and four bronze medals.   Last day at the  quadrennial extravaganza, Netherlands’ Sifan Hassan won gold in the women’s marathon in a sprint finish to claim her third medal.  The 31-year-old accelerated in the final 200 metres to cross the line in an Olympic record two hours 22 minutes 55 seconds, three seconds ahead of Ethiopian Tigst Assefa  who won silver medal. Hassan’s victory came only two days after she won bronze in the 10,000m and six days after 5,000m bronze. Kenya’s Hellen Obiri finished third. Where as Ethiopia’s Tamirat Tola claimed men’s marathon gold.     The 2028 Summer Olympics are set to be held in Los Angeles. It’s the third time Los Angeles has hosted the games, following 1932 and 1984. Baseball and softball will be making their Olympic return in Los Angeles, with new sports flag football, cricket, lacrosse and squash.   The United States came out on top in the Olympic medal count with a stunning total of 126 medals, including forty gold. China also with forty gold came in second in the total medal tally with 91. Japan came third with 45 medals including 20 gold and Australia came 4th with 18 gold and overall tally of 53.

Akashvani will broadcast the program in regional languages immediately after the Hindi broadcast.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to the landslide ravaged areas of Wayanad, reached Chooralmala, one of the areas badly hit by the massive landslide on the 30th of last month. The Army had built a 190 ft Bailey Bridge at Chooralmala across river Iruvanipuzha, which facilitated the faster movement of heavy earth moving equipment and army personnel to the landslide-hit areas. The Prime Minister interacted with the army personnel and those involved in the rescue and relief works.   The Prime Minister is accompanied by Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Tourism Suresh Gopi among others. From Chooralmala, he will proceed to the MIMS Hospital and a relief camp at the St Joseph School at Meppady and interact with the survivors.   Earlier, the Prime Minister conducted an aerial survey of the landslide-hit areas of Punchirivattom, Mundakkai and Attamala areas on an IAF helicopter.

On the occasion of World Lion Day today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended all individuals involved in lion conservation and protection work. In a social media post, the Prime Minister highlighted that India is home to a large Lion population in Gir in Gujarat. He noted that over the years, the number of lions has increased significantly, which is a positive development.   He mentioned that in February this year, the Union Cabinet approved the setting up of the International Big Cat Alliance, to bring together all the nations of the world where big cats reside. The Prime Minister said that this initiative seeks to build a holistic approach to boost sustainable development and also support community efforts in this regard. This endeavour is receiving an encouraging response globally.   Prime Minister Modi also extended an invitation to all wildlife lovers to visit Gir National Park to discover the majestic Asiatic Lions and witness the efforts undertaken to protect the Lions while experiencing the hospitality of the people of Gujarat.

India’s defence exports soared by 78 percent in the first quarter of 2024-25 as compared to the same period last fiscal year. According to the Defence Ministry, defence exports increased to rupees 6,915 crores in the first quarter of 2024-25, compared to ₹3,865 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.   Sharing a poster on social media, Defence spokesperson A. Bharat Bhushan Babu said that this leap underscores the government’s firm commitment to setting a new benchmark in self-reliance and innovation in the defence sector.

BJP MPs from the SC and ST communities met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament House today. They submitted a memorandum concerning the Supreme Court’s observation on the creamy layer for SCs and STs.   BJP MP Bhola Singh, speaking to the media, stated that they requested the decision not be implemented. The Prime Minister assured that the observation is merely a viewpoint of the apex court.
