Another batch of 3471 pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp in Jammu for the Kashmir valley to perform pilgrimage to Amarnath Cave Shrine amid tight security arrangements.   The pilgrims left the base camp in a cavalcade of 114 vehicles early this morning. Of these 1073 pilgrims left for Baltal base camp and 2398 for Pahalgam base camp from where they will proceed for their further journey to the holy cave.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed the officials to be ready to introduce the Bill on the establishment of Telangana Skills University in the Budget session of the Assembly.   The Skills University to be set up in Hyderabad will offer 17 courses and train 20 thousand students every year with 2000 to be admitted in the first year. He stated this while holding a review meeting with the officials on starting the university this year itself.   Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka was also present at the meeting. An official release said, it was also decided that along with degree courses of three – four years duration, the university will offer one year diploma courses and certificate courses of three – four months. To start with, the courses that offer employment opportunities will be introduced in six sectors. Each course will have tie up with an established company in the respective field and the State government will enter into a MoU with the companies, to this effect.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alert for extremely heavy rainfall over Gujarat, Goa, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana today.   Akashvani correspondent reports that the IMD said that isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over Gujarat, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka and Coastal Andhra Pradesh today and over Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Telangana till tomorrow.    Meanwhile, heavy rainfall conditions will prevail Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and North Interior Karnataka during next 4 days. The IMD added that similar conditions will prevail over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan during next 4 days. The weather agency has also predicted light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Northeast India, Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during the next 4 days.

A San Francisco-bound Air India flight AI-183 from Delhi was diverted to Krasnoyarsk International Airport in Russia today due to a technical reason.   Informing this in a social media post on X, Air India said, the aircraft has landed safely and they are working with relevant authorities to ensure guests are taken care of while they decide the next course of action.
